Free Meal Program

South Park Families:

The Pennsylvania Department of Education has approved the South Park School District’s request to distribute free meals for all students who reside in the district. This process is made possible because of funding on the federal level. The program will begin on Monday, September 21 and will last through December 2020 or until the federal funding runs out, whichever comes sooner. This applies for all students who are learning in school or at home.

Students who are attending in-person classes in a South Park school are able to receive one (1) free lunch each school day from the school cafeteria. Students may purchase additional lunches; however, only one (1) lunch is free per day.

For all South Park students, whether they are enrolled in the hybrid model or the South Park Cyber Academy, the district’s drive-through service will be available with modified hours. The hours will now be 1-2 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays and 11 a.m. to noon on Fridays at South Park High School. These modified hours will help us more efficiently provide meals to students in school and at home on distribution days. In order to better serve you and to better plan our meal counts, we ask you that you please complete this electronic form (click here) if you will be utilizing the drive-through meal service. Families are asked to complete one form for each child. The deadline to complete the form for next-day meals is at 3 p.m. the prior business day. A single form can be completed for the entire month by selecting which days you will be picking up meals. Families participating in this drive-through meal distribution on the South Park High School campus should make the first left after turning onto the high school campus. Proceed to the side of the high school building nearest to the elementary center. View a map here.

All meals provided will follow the National School Lunch Program guidelines. This only applies to complete lunches. Students will be required to pay for any a la carte purchases made in our school cafeterias. The meal packs distributed on Mondays and Wednesdays will each include two lunches and two breakfasts. The meal pack on Friday will include one lunch and one breakfast.

Adjustments to this month’s school menus have been made and updated on the district’s food services website here. Additionally, some menus are subject to change based on changing product availability. Menus will also be available for the drive-through service.

We appreciate your patience as we navigate through these changes. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Brandon Smoker, food services director, by emailing or by calling (412) 655-4189.
