This is the image for the news article titled SPSD Health Notice: November 9, 2020This communication is a notification that a district employee who works out of South Park High School tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday, November 9, 2020. The individual who was last at work on Friday, November 6, does not work directly with students. The South Park School District has enacted the procedures for responding to a confirmed case from our Health and Safety Plan and followed the guidance from the Pennsylvania Department of Health. We are working closely with the Allegheny County Health Department and will continue to adhere to all guidance and recommendations provided to us by public health officials.

At this time, no close contacts have been identified. If any close contacts are later identified, they will be notified by the Allegheny County Health Department and begin quarantine.


Affected areas of the building will once again be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected as per Pennsylvania Department of Health and CDC guidelines.


The individual will not return to work until the isolation period has concluded.


The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports individuals with COVID-19 may have mild to severe illness, and symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. Symptoms may include:

Fever or chills
Cough
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
Fatigue
Muscle or body aches
Headache
New loss of taste or smell
Sore throat
Congestion or runny nose
Nausea or vomiting
Diarrhea

Individuals who exhibit any of these symptoms should contact their healthcare provider immediately.

The health and wellbeing of our students, faculty, staff and community are our primary concern. We will continue to monitor the situation and notify families and staff of any additional actions that may need to be taken. 

This communication is being shared with all district families and staff as part of the procedures outlined in the district’s Health and Safety Plan approved by the Board of Directors on Tuesday, July 28. We will not release any additional information due to confidentiality and patient privacy laws.
