6th Grade Social Studies

Content to be covered during the course of the year:


  • World Geography

  • The Underground Railroad & Slavery

Homework Policy:


  • Homework will be given on a weekly basis.

  • Assignments are expected to be completed on time. The work should be neat and organized.

  • In the case of an absence, it is the student’s responsibility to get the assignments and submit them within a time period that is equivalent to the amount of days absent.  Failure to complete the assignment will result in a zero for that assignment.

  • HOMEWORK IS 10% OF THE STUDENT’S TOTAL GRADE!


Agenda

  • It is the responsibility of the student to enter all Social Studies assignments and grades weekly.

  • Assignments will be found daily on the board in class for students to record into their agendas.


Notebook


  • Students must have a Social Studies notebook for recording daily bell ringers (which will be graded), as well as taking notes and recording vocabulary terms.

  • Students must have a separate folder for all Social Studies materials to be kept.

Grading

  • Unit and Vocabulary tests and quizzes

  • Projects

  • Homework (10%)


Grading Scale               

   90-100%  Outstanding

   80- 89%  Above standard

   70-79%   Standard

   65-69%   Minimum standard

   0-64%    Fails to meet standard


Your grades will be posted on HAC.


 


Student Expectations & Responsibilities:


1. Follow the directions the first time given.

2. Respect one another. Treat others as you would expect to be treated.  

3. Be prepared for class.

4. Listen while others are talking.

5. Raise your hand and wait to be recognized.

6. Leave cell phones and electronic devices in your locker.

Consequences

1. Verbal warning

2. Student will be moved to another seat

3. Call home

4. Office referral

*** Severe Clause--immediate office referral.
