With the current number of confirmed, positive COVID-19 cases at South Park High School and a number of high school students and staff in quarantine, South Park High School will remain in a remote instructional model through Friday, December 4. This means the earliest possible return to the hybrid instructional model at South Park High School would be Monday, December 7. At this time, we intend to keep South Park Elementary Center and South Park Middle School in the hybrid instructional model next week and after the fall break. This, however, is subject to change. We must take into consideration the number of COVID-19 cases in the district, community and county; the impacts – educational, health, and social/emotional – on our students; the ability of the district to staff classrooms and positions; and the guidelines and recommendations from state and county health officials when determining possible changes to our instructional model at a school building or throughout the district.

Classes will not be held on Thursday, November 26; Friday, November 27 or Monday, November 30 for the scheduled fall break. When remote classes at the high school resume on Tuesday, December 1, high school students will be required to record their attendance each school day using the attendance forms they complete on at-home days. Students are to complete the form for their first period teacher no earlier than 7 a.m. and no later than 7:30 a.m. each school day.

All South Park High School students will attend classes remotely and receive synchronous, asynchronous or recorded instruction every school day, not just on the days when they were scheduled to be in person under the hybrid model. Teachers will continue to communicate their specific remote instructional procedures with students.

All high school activities, including all high school sports, are canceled until Monday, December 7. After-school and evening events during this period are postponed and will be rescheduled at a later date. South Park High School will administer the SAT on Saturday, December 5 to those students who registered through CollegeBoard.

High school students who attend Steel Center for Career and Technical Education will attend in-person classes at Steel Center as long as in-person classes at Steel Center continue. Transportation will be provided.

Grab-and-go meal distribution will take place outside South Park High School on Tuesday, December 1 and Thursday, December 3 from 1 to 2 p.m. during this extended week of remote learning at the high school. Families wishing to pick up grab-and-go meals must complete this online form

As previously stated, we intend to resume the hybrid instructional model at South Park High School on Monday, December 7. This plan is subject to change. High school families will receive an update the week of December 1.
