Due to an increase in active COVID-19 cases at South Park High School over the last week and the number of students currently in quarantine, South Park High School will transition to a remote instructional model beginning on Monday, November 16 through Wednesday, November 25. All South Park High School students will attend classes remotely every school day during this period. No in-person classes will be held at South Park High School during this period. South Park Elementary Center and South Park Middle School will continue to operate under a hybrid instructional model at this time.

While in the remote instructional model, South Park High School students will be required to record their attendance each school day using the attendance forms they complete on at-home days. Students are to complete the form for their first period teacher no earlier than 7 a.m. and no later than 7:30 a.m. each school day.

All South Park High School students will attend classes remotely and receive synchronous, asynchronous or recorded instruction every school day, not just on the days when they were scheduled to be in person under the hybrid model. For this remote instructional period, all South Park High School students, whether they are in Group A or Group B, will attend classes remotely for the eight school days from Monday, November 16 through Wednesday, November 25. Teachers will be communicating their specific remote instructional procedures with students.

During this transition to remote instruction, all high school activities, including all high school sports, are canceled through Monday, November 30. After-school and evening events during this period, including Wednesday evening’s National Honor Society ceremony, are postponed and will be rescheduled at a later date.

High school students who attend Steel Center for Career and Technical Education will attend in-person classes at Steel Center, and transportation will be provided. Steel Center students will be picked up at their home bus stops in the late morning on Tuesday, November 17; Thursday, November 19 and Tuesday, November 24 and transported to Steel Center.

Grab-and-go meal distribution will take place outside South Park High School on Monday, November 16 and Wednesday, November 18 from 1 to 2 p.m., Friday, November 20 from 11 a.m. to noon and Monday, November 23 from 1 to 2 p.m. The grab-and-go order form can be accessed by clicking here. The deadline to request a meal pack for Monday, November 16 is Sunday, November 15 at 9 p.m.

The district will continue to monitor positive cases in the high school, district, community and county. High school families will receive an update on a possible return to the hybrid instructional model at South Park High School on December 1 by the morning of November 30.
