South Park School District will move forward with plans to revitalize the athletic field complex located on campus between the high school and elementary center buildings.
On Wednesday, May 1, the South Park School District Board of School Directors awarded contracts totaling $2,820,930. These contracts encompass general construction, plumbing, electrical work, and the installation of cutting-edge field turf. This transformative project aims to deliver a state-of-the-art facility not only for our athletes and band, but also for the broader community to utilize.
Once completed, the revitalized complex will serve as the home field for our high school varsity and junior varsity baseball, as well as varsity and junior varsity softball teams. The versatile multi-use field will offer a dedicated practice space for various activities, including band rehearsals, boys and girls soccer, and other sports teams.
With our region's unpredictable weather patterns in mind, the introduction of turf will mitigate challenges posed by inclement conditions, especially during the spring sports season. The planned installation of lighting fixtures will significantly expand the availability of the field. Additionally, by redistributing usage, we anticipate relieving demand on our Eagle Stadium turf, thereby extending the longevity of both surfaces.
