This morning, the Pennsylvania Department of Education released preliminary guidelines to school districts and the media for the phased reopening of schools. These guidelines are preliminary, and we have been told that additional guidelines from the state will be released in three weeks.

District administrators are carefully reviewing these guidelines which are also available for you to review online. We encourage you to read them.

Today’s release of these guidelines does not mean our planning for the 2020-2021 school year is just beginning. District administrators have been discussing and drafting plans for what the 2020-2021 school will look like for more than a month.

In the coming weeks, we will be requesting your feedback regarding remote learning during the 2019-2020 school year and your opinions on the 2020-2021 school year. Links to online surveys will be shared with our stakeholders soon.

After reviewing these guidelines, the South Park School District and districts in our area have many questions that have not been answered by the Department of Education. We will keep you informed throughout the coming weeks and months as we work with the health and safety of our students, faculty, staff, and community as our primary focus.
